To determine the type and stage of the cancer, our gynecologic oncologists perform a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, including a thorough pelvic examination, ultrasound, other imaging tests, and blood tests. Depending upon the diagnostic details, our experts may recommend minimally invasive surgeries over other invasive treatments to eliminate cancer. Our team will also perform a comprehensive risk assessment to analyse whether you will be able to safely tolerate the treatment. We will take all the measures to enhance the success rate of the treatment.
Depending upon the type and stage of gynecologic cancers, the following are the surgeries recommended:
Prophylactic (preventive) surgery, recommended to reduce the risk of developing cancer, is also performed at BMCHRC. This surgery is advised only after a comprehensive risk–benefit assessment confirms that the potential benefits clearly outweigh the associated risks. Apart from surgery, your treatments may also be recommended, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, and immunotherapy, either alone or in combination. In the case of inoperable or surgically complex tumors or those who have a high risk of local recurrence, radiation therapy is recommended. BMCHRC facilitates intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) that spares normal tissue from radiation exposure, lowering the risk of side effects.
Some gynecologic cancer therapies might affect your fertility, making it more challenging or impossible for you to conceive or carry a child to term. Our team will address your queries and concerns so that you can make an informed decision. If the patient expresses the intent to preserve their fertility, we’ll discuss fertility-sparing plans early in the treatment process while weighing the risks and benefits.
Pain is the common early symptom of gynecologic cancer. It often happens when a tumor compresses nerves, bones, or organs. Pain also happens after the treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
