The Department of Transfusion Medicine offers supply of whole blood, packed cells, fresh frozen plasma, platelet concentrates according to the need of patients. It provides its services following the rules of Cosmetic & Drug Act of India. Component separation like packed cells, fresh frozen plasma, pallets are being obtained during separating process from whole blood unit (as Blood Bank is equipped with cell separator and other necessary equipment). The Blood Bank also has the facility of gamma irradiated blood which makes blood safer for transfusion. The Blood Bank preserves all types of blood and supply catering to the requirements of BMCHRC and also other hospitals and nursing homes.
