April 15th, 1992 - The idea of establishing a Cancer Hospital was floated by Late Shri Vidya Vinod Kala – a Cancer patient, a great visionary and a known philanthrophist of Jaipur, on the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. That idea was instantly and very kindly accepted by Hon'ble Sh. Bhairon Singh Ji Shekhawat who was Chief Minister of Rajasthan with a promise to allot a piece of land for the Hospital.
October 23rd, 1992 – a plot of 22000 SqYds.(present site of the hospital) was allotted at a token price by the State Government and construction was started by well known architect Mr. Kamal S.Malik of Mumbai. An amount of approx. Rs.3.00 crores was invested in raising the structure alone.
In 1995, the fresh donations had almost stopped coming in and it was felt that sundry amounts received as donations cannot provide a required to complete the project. Realising this fact, the trustees led by Sh.Vinod Kala and Sh.Vimal Chand Surana sent an Appeal to the K.G. Kothari Memorial Trust Jaipur and made presentation for urgent need of a State-of-Art Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Jaipur. Taking into consideration the Appeal and realizing importance of such centre for the people of Rajasthan and states, Sh. N.R.Kothari, Chairman of K.G. Kothari Memorial Trust, who was already having strong responsibility of Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, accepted the Appeal Offer. Since the inception of the project, Sh. Vimal Chand Ji Surana has been playing one of the key roles. He persuaded and inspired Sh. N.R. Kothari to accept this gigantic task of establishing and running the cancer hospital. He has been involved in outlaying and execution of the project and is an integral part of decision making at all stages. After sad demise of Sh. Vidya Vinod Ji Kala, Sh. Vimal Chand Ji Surana accepted the challenge by taking the responsibilities of institution. His balanced and thoughtful approach has been helping institution to overcome all sorts of difficulties.
