Make-A-Wish Foundation if India is part of the largest not-for-profit wish organization in the world, server 30+ countries with international affiliates on five continents. The Indian affiliate was established in 1996 by Uday and Gita Joshi.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of India is dedicated to granting the cherished wishes of children between the ages of 3-18 years living with life threatening illnesses irrespective of their socio-economic status, caste, race or religion.
Typically, wishes fall into four categories :
- I wish to be ... doctor, pilot, princess, a live performer on a TV show...
- I wish to meet... my favorite movie star, sportsperson, even the President of India.
- I wish to go to... a beach resort, a holy destination, to a hill station...
- I wish to have... a first bicycle, a remote car, a refrigerator to put medication...
The fulfillment of the most cherished wish of the child can give back what a sickness takes away - strength, hope and joy and actually have a therapeutic effect.

With the initiative of KGK Group, Jaipur Division was inaugurated in October 2005, with Mrs. Anil Kothari as the Director and Ms Smita Shah as the Programme Coordinator.
In a short time of 2 years, we have already fulfilled 550+ wishes out of which 225 are cancer patients from BMCHRC. We have a very sincere and dedicated team of 15 volunteers, most of whom are homemakers, mothers and grandmothers!
Besides fulfilling the wishes at various hospitals and institutions we also organize entertainment events like picnics, music and dance programmes, movie shows, McDonald's "Ronald" workshop in which Ronald performs some magic tricks and entertains the wish kids and also organize painting competitions and distribute prizes to the deserving kids.
A lot of social clubs & organization like Lioness Club, Digamber Jain Mahila Mandal, Shyamnagar Club, adopt wishes and take them up as a regular project each year. Even Poornima Group of Colleges, Jaipur Engineering College are associated with us.
We will be posting our pending list of wishes with all the details, like the age of the child, illness and his cherished wish. Kindly come forward and adopt wishes every month or on special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. You can also come personally, if residing in Jaipur, and do wish fulfillments. You can sponsor, gifts or at time of events come and give a helping hand, or do volunteer work with the foundation. Your support will go a long way to reach out to many more children and spread smiles and happiness.
